Field Research Sensors

In my master thesis I explored how people can have "Creative Dialogues" with their everyday objects. In order to give these everday objects a voice, I developed these field research sensors: small, attachable sensor boxes that could transmit their data over WiFi and run on two AA-batteries or USB power.

In the study in which I used these sensors, various experienced Makers were recruited to participate. The sensors were installed on various everyday objects in the participants' home and made use of their WiFi network to send their data to a TU Delft database. From there, the data could be visualised and made available to the participants.

In this process, my participants we asked to periodically check their visualised data and interpret it in the scope of a DIY project they were undertaking at the time.
